Muluembet Selassie (Byogenic Beauty Spot Owner) was a pioneer to start the beauty service when nothing was known and nothing was available in Ethiopia. Envisioning the demand for beauty service after taking her extensive skincare training in the United States and the Netherlands as a professional Skin Care specialist/Electrologist and with her entrepreneurship mindset she started the skincare business in 1993 with her company called Byogenic. Mulu started her Spa business with a single store and with few employees; however, her business grew rapidly where she needed to have more skilled labor to meet the demand of her service. As the beauty service was new, it was very difficult to find skilled labor that met her standard. Therefore to fill this gap, she trained many young women and elevate their skills that met her standard and in a very short time, the trained workers were able to help her provided service to her growing client base. As her client base grew, her name become a household name and without using any professional marketing, through word-of-mouth Mulu keeps gaining clients and she was forced to add more stores and open a training center where she training more women. Today Mulu has three stores and a training center where over one thousand young women are trained and employed by the growing beauty industries. Besides creating job opportunities for these young women, she has also nurtured these young women to build their self-confidence and be more marketable through the training and personal development the training center provided. There are a total of 87 full-time employees and 9 part-time staff.
