Next Fashion Design College was established in 2006 as a college and TVET. Owner Sarah Mohammed, created the company which currently has three branches in Addis Ababa: Bole (HQ), Lebu, and Piazza. The College offers classes in fashion design and modeling. Fashion design takes 1year to complete the training; there are also courses of 3 or 6 months. A majority of the income for Next Fashion Design comes from the tuition costs the students are required to pay. The vision behind the company is to promote Ethiopian and African clothes locally and internationally by creating competitive potential designers. The mission is to be a hub for innovation and excellence in the fashion industry; by working on uncharted territories with the purpose of harnessing and developing local potential. The objective is to bring meaningful changes through innovative skills & knowledge development in the fashion designing and modeling industry. Sara and Melesew manage a team of 23 employees; 17 of which are female, approximately 22 youth, and one externally hired staff member which is the accountant. The college is also involved in various programs with PEPE of DAI and DFID. With these companies, they supplied 3,000 machine operators for the garment sector. The company has a business plan that is written by an external consultant. There is an investment plan to expand to the garment industry and a business plan for a garment department in the College.
