Lidia Leather Crafts

Before establishing Lidia Leather Crafts in 2013, Owner Lidia graduated with her MSc in Computer Science along with a certificate in Design from Zewditu Design. Before starting her business, she previously worked in the non-profit sector for about 5-6 years. She has worked with organizations like Hands of Hope (an American foundation). Since the NGO rout became exhausting, Lidia finally decided that she was going to start her own business and finally practice her craft as a designer. Lidia believes that the company and brand she creates can be passed down generationally. Meaning, she as a company wants to be recognized as a household name. A friend of hers who is a professional in textile consulted her so that she can found raw materials from the local market which encouraged her to get into the business. From that point on, Lidia Leather Crafts has manufactured various leather products for men and women like leather bags, belts, wallets, laptop bags, bracelets, leather jackets, etc. The company’s vision is to promote genuine Ethiopian leather products to the world. The company’s mission is to produce 10 times more leather accessories and eventually expand into manufacturing shoes. The company employs a total of 12 full-time (10 being female staff), 5 part-time (all female), and 19 seasonal employees (7 being female). Meanwhile, there is one accountant, (externally hired) and 6 indirect positions the company has created.
